Ramadam: “Why I can’t be a Muslim” – Cardi B opens up on her discipline struggle

American rap star, Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, popularly known as Cardi B, has opened up about why she cannot practise the Islamic religion.
The rapper said she does not have the strength or discipline to fast during Ramadan. She explained that going long hours without food is too difficult for her.
In a now-viral video circulating online, the Grammy-winning rapper said humorously:
“To my Muslims out there and non-Muslims doing Ramadan fasting, God knows not to make me a Muslim. If I wake up and I go three hours without eating, my head starts to hurt, and I start hearing voices.”
She added that God knew not to make her a Muslim, stressing that she lacks the discipline required to abstain from food and water for extended periods.
Cardi B also revealed that when hunger hits, she prefers to isolate herself, even from her children, and avoids using her phone because her mood changes so much.
Despite her struggle, she expressed admiration for Muslims who fast during Ramadan.
She praised their loyalty and commitment, saying that giving up food, water, and other comforts shows true devotion to God.
Her comments have sparked reactions on social media, while some found her honesty humorous, others criticised her opinion on a belief she does not personally practice.
One user wrote, “Why is Cardi B not a comedian? She will do well with comedy.” Another added, “She may not practise, but at least she respects those who do.”
