“Poverty is a mindset”: Billionaire heir Siraheem Okoya sparks viral debate on wealth

Siraheem Okoya, the son of Nigerian industrialist and Eleganza Group founder Chief Razaq Okoya, has ignited a firestorm of conversation across social media following his recent remarks on the nature of wealth and success.

In a candid session that has since gone viral, the billionaire heir argued that financial status is secondary to one’s mental state.

“Poverty is a mindset,” Okoya tells Nigerian youth

During a livestream interaction with popular content creator Carter Efe, Siraheem urged young Nigerians to shift their internal perspectives if they hope to escape the cycle of lack.

He positioned the human brain as the ultimate engine for prosperity, suggesting that material reality is merely a reflection of one’s cognitive habits.

Poverty is a mindset. If you want to achieve, you must elevate your thinking to a higher frequency. God gave us the most powerful tool in the world—the brain—and it is up to you to use it. When you change the frequency of your thoughts, your reality follows,” Siraheem stated.

While the “higher frequency” philosophy resonated with some as a call to self-empowerment, it was met with swift pushback from critics who labeled the comments “out of touch.”

Many pointed out that Siraheem’s perspective is cushioned by his father’s vast industrial empire, arguing that systemic economic barriers cannot be overcome by “mindset” alone.

In response to the backlash, Siraheem maintained that he values independence, asserting that he works for his own earnings rather than relying solely on his lineage
