Police move to arrest, prosecute Mirabel over alleged false claim
The Ogun State Police Command has concluded plans to arrest and prosecute a female TikTok user, Mirabel, over an alleged false rape claim.
According to reports, Mirabel reportedly admitted during a viral phone conversation with social media personality Verydarkman (VDM) that aspects of her earlier allegation were untrue.
Mirabel admits, apologizes
In the widely circulated audio, she was heard apologising and acknowledging inconsistencies in her initial statement.
“I have been taking drugs, and I was not thinking clearly when I posted the videos,” she reportedly stated in the audio clip.
A police source disclosed that officers are monitoring the situation and that Mirabel would be taken into custody after being discharged from the hospital where she is currently receiving treatment.
“The DPO and some senior police officers are currently at the hospital where she is admitted. Once she is discharged, she will be taken into custody, and a charge will be prepared against her for trial. The essence is to serve as a deterrent to others,” the source said.
Mirabel’s earlier claim
Mirabel had earlier alleged on TikTok that she was attacked and raped by a stranger who allegedly forced his way into her apartment in the Ogijo area of Ogun State. The claim sparked widespread reactions and concern across social media.
Reacting to the latest development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, stated that the command is reviewing the matter and will issue an official statement in due course.
