“Peter Obi lied to me…” – Apostle Kassy Chukwu explains why he now supports Tinubu

A Nigerian cleric, Apostle Kassy Chukwu, has stirred reactions online after publicly accusing former presidential candidate Peter Obi of misleading him, while explaining his decision to now support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The pastor made the remarks during a sermon to his congregation, where he expressed frustration over his past support for Obi and his current political stance.

“Peter Obi Lied To Me”

In a now-viral video, Apostle Kassy Chukwu claimed that he once believed in Peter Obi’s ambition to become Nigeria’s president, which led him to openly support the former Anambra State governor.

“Peter Obi lied to me. I started insulting Tinubu and supporting Peter Obi. Now Peter Obi has joined the same Atiku, who they once said was bad,” he said.

Regret Over Past Support

The cleric admitted that his support for Obi made him criticise other political figures, including Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

However, he suggested that some of Obi’s supporters deliberately ignored or hid certain developments at the time.

He also questioned critics who are now reacting to his change in stance, insisting that he has the right to support any candidate of his choice.

Reference to Political Alliances

Apostle Kassy Chukwu further pointed out that Peter Obi has associated with politicians such as Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Kwankwaso, figures he claimed were previously criticised by Obi’s supporters.

He said this development influenced his decision to withdraw his support.

Declaring his current position, the cleric stated that he now supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and intends to vote for him in the 2027 general election.

“I have said it before—2027, I will vote for Asiwaju. Do whatever you want. Nobody is a mumu,” he added.
