Pascal Dozie (April 9, 1939 – April 8, 2025) was a Nigerian businessman with a net worth measured in bullion dollars. He founded Diamond Bank and was the chairman of Pan-Atlantic University. Dozie died on April 8, 2025, one day before his 86th birthday.

Pascal Gabriel Dozie is a Nigerian business leader and investment expert. He was born on March 9, 1939, in Egbu, northern Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. Dr. Dozie received hisdegree in Economics from the London School of Economics, followed by aMaster’s of Administration from City University of London in 1963.

Following his studies, Pascal Dozie Dozie established his own company, the African Development Consulting Group, in Lagos, Nigeria. Pascal has never worked for anyone.

He was extremely fortunate to receive numerous consultancies from major corporations, including Nestlé and Pfizer. He later formed and serves as a Non-Executive Partner at African Capital Alliance. He is also the founder and chairman of Kunoch Limited. Among the companies he has built, Dr Pascal Dozie is best recognised as the founder and former Chairman of Diamond Bank Plc.

Pascal came up with the idea for Diamond Bank after carefully observing the challenges that Igbo businesspeople encounter. In the 1980s, he had a simple concept that led to significant riches. Dozie discovered that traders from remote areas in South-east Nigeria, where he grew up, were having difficulty carrying large sums of cash when travelling to Lagos for business.

Sometimes they get sidetracked by rogues on the road. This spurred Dozie to pioneer electronic transfers in Nigeria, allowing traders to transmit cash to Lagos without carrying it. This unique move resulted in the formation of Diamond Bank, which opened for business in 1991. When the bank started, it functioned from a third-floor office on Victoria Island with twenty people and $5million.

Pascal Dozie served as Chairman of the Board of MTN Nigeria, Nigeria’s largest telecommunications corporation. Pascal Dozie’s other business investments and interests include ADIC Insurance Limited and Aluminium Extrusion Industries PlC.

He was a former Director of the Central Bank of Nigeria, President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, and Chairman of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group.
