Osimhen’s big club hopes tied to World Cup – Oliseh

Sunday Oliseh says Victor Osimhen’s dream of securing a big club move may hinge on Nigeria qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The former Super Eagles captain stressed that strong performances at the tournament would erase lingering concerns from top clubs who passed on signing the 26-year-old this summer.

“Victor has to pray,” Oliseh said in a social media video. “He needs Nigeria to be at the next World Cup.

“He has to continue leading the team, but even more now. To make sure that Nigeria qualifies for the next World Cup.

“Nigeria going to the World Cup and him playing well, then clubs will forget these issues that are all around him, short from that he will have problem.”

Recall Osimhen completed a permanent move to Galatasaray from Napoli after interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United failed to materialise.

Nigeria is currently fourth in Group C of the World Cup qualifiers, trailing South Africa, Rwanda and Benin Republic.
