Osimhen returns as Galatasaray set Super Lig record

Victor Osimhen made his comeback from injury as Galatasaray defeated Alanyaspor 1-0 on Friday to record a historic start to the 2025/26 Turkish Super Lig season.
The Nigerian forward, featuring for the first time since sustaining an ankle injury on international duty earlier this month, entered as an 85th-minute substitute for Barış Alper Yılmaz.
He had scored twice in three league appearances prior to his spell on the sidelines.
Icardi fires Galatasaray to victory
Mauro Icardi scored the decisive goal in the 23rd minute, finishing a through ball from Wilfried Singo to secure the win.

The result means Galatasaray have opened a league campaign with seven consecutive victories for the first time in their history, as they push to retain the Super Lig title.
Eyes on Liverpool clash
Osimhen’s return is a timely boost for manager Okan Buruk as the Turkish champions prepare to host Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
The Super Eagles striker will be in contention for a starting role as Galatasaray aim to extend their strong domestic form onto the European stage.
