Osimhen passes Galatasaray medical ahead of new season

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has successfully completed his pre-season medical at Galatasaray as preparations begin for the 2026/27 campaign, despite continued speculation over his future.
The Nigeria international returned to Turkey after spending his summer break in Nigeria and rejoined his teammates at the club’s training base over the weekend.
Osimhen took part in light gym sessions on Monday before undergoing routine medical examinations with the rest of Okan Buruk’s squad on Tuesday. The striker was cleared to resume full training ahead of the new season.
Galatasaray begin preparations
Galatasaray will step up preparations for the new campaign with a friendly against Umraniyespor on July 17.
The Turkish champions are also scheduled to face Italian clubs Monza and Venezia during pre-season before concluding their preparations with a match against Spanish side Villarreal.

Their 2026/27 Süper Lig campaign will begin on August 16 with a home fixture against newly promoted Corum.
Transfer speculation continues
Osimhen’s successful medical comes amid continued reports linking him with a move away from the Turkish club.
The 27-year-old has been associated with several European clubs this summer, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid, although no formal transfer has been completed.
Galatasaray are understood to be determined to retain the Nigerian striker, while Osimhen has also indicated he is happy at the club.
However, uncertainty remains over his long-term future as the summer transfer window continues.
Reports have suggested that any club willing to activate his reported €150 million release clause could test Galatasaray’s resolve before the transfer window closes on September 1.
French champions Paris Saint-Germain have also been mentioned among the clubs monitoring the striker’s situation as they search for attacking reinforcements.
