Osimhen hits 200 career goals in Galatasaray thrashing of Kayserispor

Victor Osimhen took his professional career tally to 200 goals on Sunday as Galatasaray cruised to a 4-0 win over Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig.

The Nigeria international also provided an assist in a dominant performance that strengthened Galatasaray’s grip on top spot and underlined their title credentials midway through the season.

Milestone moment for Osimhen

Osimhen’s goal took him to 165 strikes at club level and 35 for the Super Eagles, confirming his place among the most productive forwards of his era.

The 25-year-old has now scored 14 goals in 20 appearances across all competitions this season and continued his recent scoring run after also finding the net in Galatasaray’s previous league win over Karagümrük.

His landmark goal came in the 26th minute after he won a penalty himself. Osimhen stepped up and converted confidently from the spot to double Galatasaray’s early lead.

Galatasaray in full control

The hosts set things running from the opening minutes and went ahead inside seven minutes when Kayserispor defender Aaron Opoku turned the ball into his own net while trying to clear a dangerous cross.

Galatasaray maintained control throughout the contest and effectively settled the match on the hour mark with a quick counterattack.

A long pass released Osimhen in space, and the striker showed great composure to square the ball for Gabriel Sara, who finished first time from the edge of the area to make it 3-0.

With the outcome already beyond doubt, Galatasaray were awarded a second penalty late in the game. This time, Mauro Icardi converted to complete a comprehensive victory.

Table impact and next fixtures

The win keeps Galatasaray top of the Super Lig standings with 49 points, opening a six-point gap over second-placed Fenerbahçe, who have a game in hand.

Kayserispor remain in trouble at the other end of the table, sitting 17th with 15 points and firmly in the relegation battle.

Galatasaray will turn their attention to the Turkish Cup on Wednesday when they host Istanbulspor, while Kayserispor return to league action next Monday against Kocaelispor.
