UCL: Osimhen faces late fitness test before Liverpool clash

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen remains a doubt for Tuesday’s Champions League meeting with Liverpool, with coach Okan Buruk confirming a late decision will be made on his availability.

The Nigerian forward has played only ten minutes since sustaining an ankle injury on international duty earlier this month.

Osimhen has returned to training in recent days, but his match readiness is still uncertain.

Buruk told reporters on Monday that the medical and technical staff will assess him in the final training session before the game.

Buruk provides cautious update

“Victor continued training. We will see how he was in the last training session today,” Buruk said.

“It is positive that he played 10 minutes in the last match and continued training. We will look at his condition today and make a decision.”

Galatasaray eye key boost

The Turkish champions suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in their group opener without Osimhen, despite taking the lead early on.

His return would provide a major lift as they prepare to face Premier League holders Liverpool in Istanbul.

Osimhen’s impact before injury

Before picking up the ankle problem in Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on September 6, the 26-year-old had scored in back-to-back Super Lig starts, reaffirming his role as Galatasaray’s leading attacking threat.

They will hope he returns with the same form when deemed fully fit for games.
