Onyeka scores first Coventry goal in win against Derby County

Frank Onyeka opened his account for the season as Coventry City secured a 3-2 victory over Derby County in a closely contested Championship clash at the CBS Arena on Good Friday.
The Super Eagles midfielder, on loan from Brentford, set the tone early, finishing from close range in the 12th minute to give the hosts a deserved lead.
It marked a personal milestone for the 27-year-old, who has played a key but largely understated role in Coventry’s campaign.
End-to-end contest
Derby responded before the break, with Ben Brereton Díaz equalising in the 38th minute to ensure both sides went into halftime level.

Coventry regained control in the second half when Jack Rudoni restored their advantage in the 68th minute. However, Derby refused to fade, with Brereton Díaz converting from the penalty spot in the 77th minute to make it 2-2.
The hosts ultimately delivered the decisive blow, as Rudoni struck again just three minutes later to complete his brace and seal all three points.
Title charge gathers pace
The result strengthens Coventry’s position at the top of the table, moving them 11 points clear of Millwall with six games remaining. The margin puts them well on course for the EFL Championship title and automatic promotion to the Premier League.
