Onuachu nets brace to hit 20 Super Lig goals in Trabzonspor win

Paul Onuachu scored twice to reach the 20-goal mark in the league as Trabzonspor defeated Kayserispor 3-1 in Monday’s Süper Lig clash.

The Super Eagles striker continued his impressive scoring run, finding the net for the ninth consecutive match against the relegation-threatened hosts and helping Trabzonspor secure a fourth straight league victory.

Early red card puts Kayserispor on the back foot

Kayserispor’s task became significantly harder in the eighth minute when midfielder Dorukhan Toköz received a straight red card, leaving the home side to play most of the match with ten men.

Trabzonspor capitalised on the advantage late in the first half. Onuachu opened the scoring in the second minute of added time, rising highest to head home a cross from Wagner Pina.

The visitors added a third goal early in the second half when an own goal from Bilal Bayazit made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute.

Kayserispor pulled one back in the 83rd minute through substitute German Onugkha, but it proved only a consolation as Trabzonspor comfortably saw out the match.

The victory lifts Trabzonspor to 54 points from 25 matches, keeping them third in the table behind Fenerbahçe and leaders Galatasaray.
