“Only infidelity” – X user shares shocking reason why Jehovah’s witnesses find it hard to divorce their spouse

A Nigerian man has sparked controversy on social media after revealing a startling insight about Jehovah Witness marriage practices.
In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), he claimed that members of the religion cannot divorce their spouse for any reason other than infidelity, meaning abuse or irreconcilable differences are not considered valid grounds.

He explained that this strict rule has, in some cases, led members to deliberately cheat just so they could qualify for what the church calls an “approved” divorce.
In his words:
“It’s crazy, but some people literally commit adultery to get a divorce they’re otherwise forbidden from having.”
The revelation drew strong reactions online. Some readers were shocked at the harshness of the rule, while others questioned its accuracy.
One commentator wrote, “Church and strict rules, it is well.” Another said, “This is a fat lie, so untrue.”
In conclusion he noted that Jehovah Witness divorce rules are far stricter than many realize, and in certain cases, these rules can even push members to break the very guidelines they are expected to follow.
