“One of my biggest mistakes started…” – Lady shares painful relationship regret after taking friends’ advice

A Nigerian lady has opened up about how she ended a four-year relationship with a man who supported her through university, only to later realise she made a costly mistake.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she revealed that she met him in her 200 level, and from then until graduation, he stood by her.
He paid her school fees when things were tight, bought her phones, and gave her a monthly allowance.
According to her, her only issue was that he never talked about marriage, and as graduation approached, pressure to settle down began to cloud her judgment.
In her words, she said:
“He was never perfect, but he was consistent. Instead of sitting him down to ask about marriage, I started feeling like he was using me, even though he had always been there for me.”
After graduation, she left him and moved on to another man who openly spoke about marriage and promised her a future abroad.
Acting on a friend’s advice, she lied about her genotype to create an excuse to end the relationship.
“I told him I was AS so that we wouldn’t be compatible, even though I’m AA. I later found out the man I left him for was married and had lied about everything, and now I don’t know how to explain the truth.”
Many people say she allowed pressure and friends’ opinions to influence her decision.
Others believe honest communication could have saved the relationship before it was too late.
Now left with regret, she is faced with the painful reality that she may have walked away from something real because she chased what only sounded good.
