Omije Ojumi: Lady advises single mothers single-handedly raising children, warns against poisoning minds

A Nigerian lady, identified as Princess Adenike Ajisafe, has shared advice for single mothers raising children alone, urging them to avoid speaking negatively about absent fathers.
Her remarks follow the emotional and dramatic funeral of late gospel singer Bunmi Akinaanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi.
Son Denies Father Entry
At the funeral of Omije Ojumi in Lagos on January 28, 2026, William, the late singer’s son, made headlines with a bold outburst.
He reportedly denied his father entry to the burial venue, citing long-held resentment over what he described as neglect during a critical period of their lives.
The young boy’s outburst revealed deep-seated frustration with his father, who abandoned the family years ago.
Daughter’s Heartfelt Tribute
Following the dramatic encounter, Jomiloju, Omije Ojumi’s eldest daughter, also delivered a moving tribute during the service of songs.
She recounted how their late mother raised them alone after their father abandoned the family, sacrificing everything to ensure they grew up disciplined, prayerful, and responsible.
Through tears, Jomiloju promised to continue her mother’s legacy by guiding her younger brother, William, to become the man their mother had always hoped he would be.
“She was always there for us, even when our father wasn’t,” Jomiloju partly said.
Advice for Single Mothers
In the aftermath of the funeral, Princess Adenike Ajisafe took to Facebook to offer guidance to single mothers.
She cautioned against speaking negatively about absent fathers, stressing that children should learn the truth on their own.
Using Omije Ojumi’s family as a case study, Princess Ajisafe highlighted the tension between the children and their father’s family.
She advised children to hear both perspectives, stressing that in separated homes, there are always two sides to every story.
She also expressed surprise at the situation, considering Omije Ojumi’s role as a gospel singer and preacher of forgiveness.
In her words: “Please as a single mum….
There are some side of the story you’re not supposed to tell your children about their dad, stop poisoning their minds against their fathers, let them find out the truth themselves
Evangelist Omije ojumo as a case study, See the attitude the children are displaying against their father’s family? I just hope they calm down and hear the father’s side of the story too bcuz that’s the only genuine family (their father) they can trust and rely on now
Bcuz in a separated home, there’s always two side of the story.
And even as a gospel singer and preacher of God, I don’t expect what l’m seeing.
And they’re preaching forgiveness to their members
I mean no harm and I respected the dead but something’s are suppose to be aired. Let’s be frank
Rest on Omije Ojumi.”
