Official: Ademola Lookman submits transfer request, cites broken promises at Atalanta

Ademola Lookman has officially submitted a transfer request, bringing an end to mounting speculation surrounding his Atalanta future.

In a strongly worded statement released on Sunday, the Nigerian forward expressed deep gratitude to the Bergamo club and its supporters but revealed his growing frustration with the club’s management.

“After three wonderful years in Bergamo, it is the right time to move on and experience a new adventure,” Lookman stated.

While acknowledging past loyalty and a mutual understanding with the club that he could leave for a fair offer, Lookman disclosed that Atalanta are now blocking such a move “for reasons I do not understand.”

The 26-year-old, who played a crucial role in Atalanta’s Europa League triumph last season, including a hat-trick in the final, did not hold back in his assessment of the breakdown in trust.

“After many months of broken promises and what I feel has been poor treatment towards me… I sadly feel I have no choice but to speak out,” he said.

Lookman emphasized that despite enduring “extremely difficult moments” behind the scenes, he has always put the club and its fans first.

The former Leicester and RB Leipzig forward has approved of a move to Inter Milan, but Atalanta are holding out on their valuation of €50 million.
