Odunlade Adekola Jonathan (born December 31, 1976) is a Nigerian actor, filmmaker, producer, and director. He rose to prominence after playing the lead in Ishola Durojaye’s 2003 film, Asiri Gomina Wa, and has subsequently appeared in several Nollywood films. He is the creator and CEO of Odunlade Adekola Film Productions (OAFP).

Adekola was born and raised in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and is a native of Otun, Ekiti State. Odunlade Adekola was born to Deaconess Adekola and Pastor Nathaniel A. Adekola. His father is a Servant of God at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Odunlade’s father worked as a choirmaster at the church when he was born. He continued on his religious path and eventually became a pastor at the Christ Apostolic Church. Odunlade’s parents, Pastor Adekola and Deaconess Adekola, are devout clergymen from Ekiti, Nigeria.

Odunlade Adekola attended St. John’s Primary School and St. Peter’s College in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and then took the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) before enrolling at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), where he acquired a diploma certificate. Odunlade went on to pursue his education, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Lagos in May 2018.

Career

Odunlade Adekola’s acting career began in 1996, when he joined the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners. He has starred in, authored, produced, and directed numerous Nigerian films, often known as Nollywood, over the years.

In April 2014, Adekola received the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor. He officially entered the Nigerian music industry in December 2015. Photographs of Odunlade taken while filming are popular internet memes in Nigeria.

On September 17, 2018, Odunlade Adekola became RevolutionPlus Property Development Company’s brand ambassador. It was truly a great day for him. He was officially introduced as the company’s Brand Ambassador at the Ikeja office in Lagos. Odunlade Adekola is a brand ambassador for many firms, including Goldberg Beer and Globacom Telecommunications.
