NYSC member allegedly scammed at Computer Village as fufu is used to fake iPhone package

A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reportedly fallen victim to a scam at Computer Village, after being deceived into purchasing what was presented as an iPhone.

According to reports, the unsuspecting corps member bought the device from a seller in the busy tech market, only to later discover that the phone packaging contained fufu instead of the expected device.

The incident has sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the persistent cases of fraud in popular electronics markets.

Others have used the opportunity to caution buyers to exercise vigilance, especially when making high-value purchases from unfamiliar vendors.

Computer Village, known as one of Nigeria’s largest hubs for mobile devices and accessories, has long faced criticism over fraudulent practices by some operators, despite ongoing efforts by authorities and market leaders to curb such activities.

Let’s talk about buying a phone, paying for it without opening or powering it up to check before leaving the shop. A graduate. A serving corper. If this can happen to such, i wonder how he graduated.”
