Nwabali fires back at Lege Miami after viral rant

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has issued a stern warning to Nigerian social media personality Lege Miami after the latter launched a crude tirade against Super Eagles players.

Lege Miami, reacting to Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following Sunday’s penalty defeat to DR Congo, posted a video on Instagram hurling insults at several players.

His outburst crossed a sensitive line when he referenced Nwabali’s late parents.

Nwabali responds strongly

The Chippa United goalkeeper, visibly angered by the remarks, took to Instagram to caution Lege Miami against dragging his family into such commentary.

“Remove my late dad’s name from your mouth if you’re doing your content,” Nwabali wrote. “If you don’t respect people’s dad, you should learn to respect the dead.

“I’m not your regular type of footballer. I go beat you mercilessly. You’re free to insult me but remove my late dad’s name from your mouth.”

Nwabali, who lost both parents earlier this year, made it clear that while criticism comes with the job, attacks on the deceased are out of bounds.

Backlash follows Super Eagles’ World Cup exit

Nigeria’s penalty loss to DR Congo has triggered widespread frustration, with fans venting over what many consider one of the team’s poorest showings in years.

While some reactions have been measured, others, like Lege Miami’s, have veered into personal and disrespectful territory.

With World Cup hopes now officially over, the Super Eagles will regroup. Attention turns to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next month, where the team will look to repair its fractured relationship with fans and deliver a stronger performance.
