“Now he wants me for…” – Woman questions father’s return after rejecting her for being a girl child
A Nigerian woman has sparked strong emotions online after sharing her painful childhood and the difficult situation she now faces due to her parents’ neglect.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she revealed that her father rejected her at birth simply because she was a girl, leaving her to be raised by her grandmother.
In her words, said:
“My father rejected me at birth because I was a girl. He refused to even look at me and left me with my grandmother when I was just three months old.”
She explained that her grandmother raised her single-handedly, and she never had the chance to build a relationship with her parents before losing her mother.
Over the years, she faced more personal struggles, including a failed marriage and the loss of her son, all without her father’s presence or support.
According to her now, her father is seeking for her return because he is in a critical health condition.
“Now my father has suffered a stroke and is asking to see me. Everyone expects me to step in and take responsibility for him, but I am deeply conflicted and don’t know what to do,” she added.
Many people reacted, with some urging her to forgive and show compassion, while others said she is not obligated to care for someone who abandoned her.
The story has sparked wider conversations about forgiveness, responsibility, and whether children owe absent parents care later in life.
