“Nobody has more hits than me” – Davido makes bold $1m challenge to fellow artistes

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has made a bold claim about his dominance in the Nigerian music industry, insisting that no contemporary artiste has more hit songs than him.
During a recent online interaction with streamer Davrel, the singer declared that he was willing to put $1 million on the table and face any artiste in a competitive hit-song battle.

“I will put up a $1M on the table. I will do it versus anybody. A million dollars cash, nobody has more hits than me,” he said.
Davido, who is regarded as one of the most commercially successful Nigerian artistes, has built an extensive catalogue of hit songs throughout his career. His claim places him in direct comparison with other leading Afrobeats stars, including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Olamide, Tekno and Runtown.
The singer’s challenge has yet to receive a public acceptance from any of the artistes he indirectly called out as of the time of reporting.
Davido’s declaration also echoes a similar challenge made by Burna Boy during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, when the Grammy-winning singer called for a hit-for-hit battle.
Former Mavin Records artiste Reekado Banks was reportedly willing to participate in the proposed contest at the time. However, Burna Boy rejected him as a suitable opponent, insisting that the challenge was not meant for just anyone.
Davido’s latest declaration is likely to fuel conversations among Afrobeats fans about which Nigerian artiste has the strongest catalogue of hit songs.
