“No wonder my father didn’t want me to live alone” – Lady cries out over men asking to sleepover at her apartment
A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after crying out over alleged growing trend of men asking to visit and sleep over at the apartments of single women living alone.
The young woman shared her concerns in a video, expressing surprise and confusion over the situation, especially as she is still adjusting to living independently.
Adjusting to Living Alone
According to her, she had only been living alone for about four to five months when she began noticing the behaviour.
She explained that she expected men to invite women over instead, not the other way around.
She also suggested that her experience living alone as a single woman may have exposed her to realities she had not previously considered.
Questioning Dating Norms
The lady noted that in some cases, the men making such requests were not even in a relationship with her, which made the situation more uncomfortable.
She wondered whether the trend was common or if she was simply misunderstanding modern dating dynamics.
In her words: “Single girls that live alone, please come, I have a question. Jan, come first. You live alone and you are single because this is just like my fourth month or five months of living alone as a single girl. Please o. Do these men ask to sleep in your house? Like I, I want to know, like they are asking if they can come and sleep over at your place.
I was thinking it’s the other way around. Like it’s a man that is supposed to ask, tell the girl come and sleep over. Like they are coming to come with the intentions of sleeping over at your place. Jesus. Maybe it normal but I don’t want to believe it’s normal. Maybe it’s only me or I’m not understanding it. You guys are not dating o like you guys are not dating. No wonder my father did not want to allow me to stay alone single. So this is how men behave.?”
