“No one helped me then…” – Nail technician slams church members over free training demand

A Nigerian nail technician has sparked debate online after calling out members of her church over what she described as unfair expectations.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the lady explained that when she was struggling to learn nail fixing and needed financial support, none of the church members came through for her.
Instead, it was her sister who stood by her and funded her training until she became fully skilled.
Now that she is established, she revealed that some church members have approached her with a request to train eight girls for free, a move she described as disrespectful and inconsiderate.
In her words, she said:
“When I was learning how to fix nails, no church member assisted me. No day did my mother go to church to say my daughter needs help. My sister did everything.”
Her post has since triggered reactions online. While many supported her stance, saying some churches often place unreasonable demands, others argued that helping through the church should be seen as service rather than business.
Reacting, one commentator wrote, “Na wa ooo, some churches get serious entitlement spirit.” Another added, “Training eight people for free? They no try at all. Make them pay.”
The lady maintained her position, stating that anyone interested in learning must pay ₦190,000 for three months and also provide their own tools.
