‘No one else in Turkey could score that’ – Samsunspor chief hails Osimhen for late Galatasaray winner

Victor Osimhen produced a headline-grabbing performance on Friday night, firing a stoppage-time bicycle-kick winner as Galatasaray defeated Samsunspor 3-2 in a dramatic Turkish Super Lig encounter at RAMS Park.

The Nigerian forward, recently back from a hamstring layoff, scored twice, including the stunning 93rd-minute strike, to secure three points for the league leaders and ignite the home crowd.

Samsunspor fight Bvack but fall to late brilliance

Galatasaray had gone 2-0 up through Leroy Sané and Osimhen, but Samsunspor responded admirably.

Anthony Musaba and Emre Kılınç struck to level the match, with the visitors briefly seizing control during a dominant second-half spell.

Their efforts, however, was undone by Osimhen’s acrobatic finish in added time, a moment of individual class that settled the contest.

Samsunspor president: ‘No one else in Türkiye scores that’

Despite the defeat, Samsunspor president Yüksel Yıldırım praised both his team’s resilience and Osimhen’s world-class quality, insisting the striker fully justified Galatasaray’s €75m-€80m outlay.

“My ears were blocked while watching the match in the second half,” Yıldırım said. “Samsunspor asserted their dominance. We missed chances. If we’re going to lose, let’s lose like this.

“We brought it back to 2-2 and thought it would end that way. Then Victor Osimhen showed why he’s an €80 million player. No one else in Türkiye could have scored that goal.”

Galatasaray strengthen League lead

Osimhen now has five goals in ten league appearances this season, with Samsunspor emerging as his favourite opponents, five goals in three matches, four of them at RAMS Park.

The victory lifts Galatasaray to 36 points from 15 games, maintaining their four-point advantage over Fenerbahçe.

Manager Okan Buruk will count on Osimhen’s renewed sharpness ahead of a crucial Champions League meeting with Monaco.
