“No defender can stop him” – Turkish football legend praises Onuachu aerial threat

Former Besiktas forward Nihat Kahveci has described Paul Onuachu as virtually impossible to defend against, praising the striker’s aerial dominance in the Turkish Super Lig.

Kahveci’s comments followed Onuachu’s performance in Trabzonspor’s 3-2 defeat to Fenerbahçe at Papara Park on Saturday night.

The Nigerian forward scored his side’s second goal, rising above defenders to power home a header from a cross delivered by Mathias Fjørtoft Løvik.

“Maybe there isn’t one in the world”

Speaking on the Kontraspor YouTube channel, Kahveci said Onuachu’s size and timing make him a constant threat inside the penalty area.

“From that cross that was played, I don’t see any center-back who can stop Onuachu. Maybe there isn’t one in the world,” Kahveci said, as reported by T24.

The former Besiktas player stressed that once quality service is delivered into the box, Onuachu becomes extremely difficult to contain due to his height and ability to attack the ball in the air.

Leading the scoring charts

Onuachu, who previously played for Southampton, has enjoyed a prolific campaign in Turkey. He has scored 16 league goals and registered one assist in 19 appearances.

His scoring run has lifted him to the top of the Super Lig goal charts, where he holds a one-goal advantage over Eldor Shomurodov, despite having played two matches fewer.

The 29-year-old’s consistent output has strengthened his reputation as one of the most effective target men in the league, with his aerial ability continuing to draw praise.
