“Nigeria is better off than years ago” — 2Baba

Nigerian music legend 2Baba has stirred reactions after stating that Nigeria is currently better than it was many years ago, despite ongoing socio-economic challenges.
The award-winning artiste made the remark during an interview, where he reflected on the country’s progress over time.
His comments come amid public debate over governance, economic hardship, and recurring political issues, especially as Nigeria approaches another election cycle.
Singer expresses optimism about Nigeria
“We are better off than many years ago. Just look at it,” he said, responding to concerns that issues he once addressed in his music still persist today.
“Even though challenges remain, there are tangible improvements. It is not perfect, but we cannot ignore the progress that has been made over the years,” he added.
Declares self ambassador role
The singer also revealed his personal commitment to promoting Nigeria’s image globally, stating that he has taken it upon himself to represent the country positively.
“I have personally appointed myself as an ambassador of Nigeria to everywhere. I will continue to use my platform to make a difference and project the country in a good light,” he said.
2Baba further clarified that while he previously supported political campaigns, he has no intention of going into active politics.
Known for his socially conscious music, including his 2004 hit song E Be Like Say, the artiste has consistently spoken on national issues over the years.
