“Nigeria is becoming difficult to survive in” — Nedu Wazobia laments economic hardship
Nigerian media personality Nedu Wazobia has lamented the rising cost of living and economic pressures facing Nigerians, saying the country is becoming increasingly difficult to survive in.
In a statement, Nedu said the situation affects people across different stages of life, particularly parents and young people trying to build a future.

“Nigeria is not just expensive anymore. Nigeria is becoming difficult to survive in. If you are a father, a mother or a young person trying to make something out of yourself, you already know what I’m talking about.”
He said many workers now find that their salaries are quickly exhausted by essential expenses, sometimes before the new month has properly begun.
“You go work, you go collect salary and somehow the money go disappear even before the month start, even before you reach house.”
Nedu listed expenses such as rent, school fees, food, transportation and fuel as some of the financial pressures confronting families. He also highlighted healthcare costs as another burden.
“Those wey be mama and papa, house rent dey, school fees dey, food money dey. Transport fare, fuel and not to even talk about healthcare wey Lasisi talk about the other day.”
According to him, the continued increase in prices means that the purchasing power of people’s incomes is declining.
“Everything keeps going up but the money in our pockets keep buying less.”
He further expressed concern that economic hardship was pushing some people into desperation and forcing them to take actions they might otherwise avoid.
“Some people are now becoming desperate, doing things they won’t normally do just to survive.”
Nedu also pointed to insecurity as an additional challenge confronting Nigerians alongside the economic difficulties.
“While Nigerians are struggling with the economy, we are also dealing with insecurity…”
