Newcastle renew Nicolas Jackson interest after Isak’s move to Liverpool

Newcastle United have reopened transfer talks with Chelsea over Nicolas Jackson after his proposed loan move to Bayern Munich dramatically collapsed over the weekend.

The Senegalese striker had been on the verge of joining the German champions, but the deal was scrapped after Bayern pulled out following Liam Delap’s hamstring injury on Saturday.

Despite the setback, Jackson has no desire to return to Stamford Bridge, with his camp now pushing for an alternative exit.

Newcastle have emerged as a leading destination after sanctioning Alexander Isak’s record-breaking £130million switch to Liverpool.

However, Chelsea are only prepared to sanction a permanent deal for Jackson, setting their asking price at around £60m.

The Blues had lined up Sporting Lisbon striker Conrad Harder as a potential replacement, but the youngster is instead finalising a move to RB Leipzig.

In response, Chelsea have recalled 18-year-old Marc Guiu from his loan spell at Sunderland to support their attacking depth.

Guiu, who scored once in three appearances for the Black Cats this season, netted six goals in 16 outings last term with the Blues, and now has a chance to stake his claim at Stamford Bridge.

For Newcastle, Jackson represents a fresh option in a window where their forward search has been turbulent.

The Magpies, who have already splashed £69m on Nick Woltemade, previously tried to lure Brentford’s Yoane Wissa but saw multiple bids rejected.

Wissa himself added fuel to speculation with a scathing social media outburst against his club, yet negotiations with Brentford have stalled.
