“Never take a man’s kindness for stupidity,” lady reflects on failed relationship
A woman has sparked conversation online after sharing her personal experience of dating, warning others not to mistake generosity and patience for weakness.
The video, which went viral on social media this week, has drawn thousands of comments from people debating modern relationship dynamics in Nigeria.
When kindness is misunderstood
In the video, the woman detailed how her ex-partner’s constant effort to please her eventually led her to take him for granted. She explained that she expected him to chase her after a breakup, but was surprised when he did not.
“My man and I had a disagreement, so I told him, let’s break up and he said okay. He didn’t even fight for our relationship. I was sure he’d come back to beg me later. Three weeks passed and he didn’t return,” she said. Throughout the relationship he’d do anything and everything to please me, even if I’m the one who vexes him, he’d apologise. So I got so comfortable. I started dating other men and they are not like my ex.”
