Netizen recounts helping man escape alleged internet fraud camp in Ghana
A Nigerian man has shared how he allegedly helped a young Nigerian return home after the teenager claimed he was being held in an internet fraud operation in Ghana.
In a post on X, the man said the teenager contacted him in 2024, explaining that he had travelled from Nigeria to Ghana in search of “HK” but instead found himself working as an errand boy and cleaner under harsh conditions.
According to the account, the teenager alleged that his phone had been confiscated, he was fed only once a day, slept very little because of round-the-clock online activities, and was unable to access his bank account until he returned to Nigeria.
The man said he contacted a biker he knew, who allegedly helped the teenager cross from Ghana into Togo before arranging onward transport to the Seme border. He claimed the teenager eventually withdrew money from his account upon reaching Nigeria and returned safely to Enugu.
Using the experience as a warning, the man advised young Nigerians against travelling to join internet fraud groups, describing such operations as a form of modern-day slavery. He instead encouraged youths to learn legitimate vocational skills such as mechanics, barbering or plumbing.

“Around 2024 a young boy I use to know reached out to me on whatsapp and was like boss are you still in Ghana please I will like you to help me escape from where I am in Ghana, I asked him what’s happening and if he’s safe. He said he’s safe just that he left his parents in Nigeria and came to Ghana for HK. That ever since he came , they’ve turned him into their errand boy, their dry cleaner and slave., the worst part of it all before he eats food it’s usually 4pm and that’s all he will have for the day till the next day simply because he hasn’t Cashout.
He also said his boss seized his phone,that the only reason he’s able to have my number is because he had to login his gmail into the phone they gave to him which they only use WiFi for. He barely sleeps as they are always online all day and night., whoever sleeps will be dealt with except for the new taker’s that are allowed to sleep.
I asked him how does he plan to escape, he said he has 100k naira in his bank account but he wont be able to withdraw it till he gets to nigeria with his atm. So i reached out to a cross-country biker, i met in 2017 off which we became friends because i usually send him SportyBet codes, explained everything to him and he asked if the boy can find his way to Aflao border, i called the boy he said yes. The next day he got to the border, the biker man crossed him to Togo, talked to a taxi driver to please take him to seme border. That when he gets to seme he will pay him, the driver agreed. Soon as they got to seme, the boy was able to withdraw cash and pay the driver and also pay the biker. That was how he went back to Enugu and washed his hands from anything fraud!
If you’re ever having that mindset of going to join HK, please don’t instead go and learn mechanic, barber or plumbing. HK is modern form of slavery, you’re actually working for the boss. If you’re not a smoker once you get there you must learn how to smoke, womanize and also join cult!”
