Neighbours cry out as man dies, leaves wife with no relatives to contact after years of marriage

A Nigerian woman has drawn attention online after revealing that a widow in her area is reportedly struggling to locate the family of her late husband, who passed away last week.

The story was first shared on TikTok by SweetbellarO and was later reposted on Facebook by Jennifer Chioma Owolabor.

Wife Reportedly Didn’t Know Husband’s Relatives

According to the post, the man, identified as Stephen Roland Ekpobuma, died on Saturday.

However, it was only after his death that neighbours allegedly realised his wife did not know any member of his family despite having three children with him.

The neighbour explained that the woman had previously tried to ask about meeting his relatives, but the man would reportedly become upset whenever the topic was raised.

She also claimed he mentioned being from Edo State but never disclosed his exact hometown or introduced any relatives.

Concerned by the situation, neighbours reportedly began discussing how unusual it was for someone to live for years without any known family connections.

Appeal for Public Help

The neighbour said she decided to share the story online in the hope that social media users could help locate any relatives, as the deceased’s body was still at the mortuary and his wife was said to be facing difficulties.

In her words:

“Hello everyone, this man here lives in my area with his wife. The main purpose of this post is that this man kpai last week Saturday. It was when he kpai that we realised the wife did not know any of the man’s family. Everyone was like, how can you be living with a man and you don’t know any of his family to the point of having three kids for him?

The woman said anytime she mentioned knowing the man’s family, he would turn to fight with her. But according to her, the man only said he was from Edo State and did not mention where precisely or introduce any family member.

Myself and other neighbours said it is not possible for a man not to have at least one relative. So I decided to bring it here. Maybe his relatives will come across it because I believe in the power of social media. Please help me engage so it can go viral, because the woman is really suffering and the man’s corpse is still at the mortuary. His name is Stephen Roland Ekpobuma.”
