Ndidi scores emotional goal for Besiktas after return from father’s burial

Wilfred Ndidi delivered an immediate response on his return to action, scoring in Besiktas’ 4-0 routing of Göztepe in Sunday’s Turkish Super Lig fixture.
The Super Eagles captain had been absent the previous week after travelling to Nigeria for his father’s burial, missing the 3-2 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir.
Restored to the starting line-up, Ndidi made his impact inside nine minutes.
The midfielder rose highest from a corner to power home a header, setting the platform for a dominant home performance.
It was his second goal in 17 league appearances since arriving last summer.

Early control sets tone
Ndidi’s opener established control early, and Beşiktaş maintained territorial dominance throughout the first half.
Michael Murillo doubled the lead in the 36th minute, finishing off a sustained attacking phase that left Göztepe struggling to contain the hosts.
The high performance did not drop after the interval. Junior Olaitan extended the advantage in the 59th minute, capitalising on defensive hesitation to make it 3-0.
Statement win in top-four push
Oh Hyeon-Gyu completed the scoring in the 74th minute, sealing a convincing result that keeps Beşiktaş firmly in the race for European qualification.
The victory moves the Istanbul club into fourth place, 12 points behind leaders Galatasaray.
