NASCAR’s Connor Zilisch falls, breaks collarbone while celebrating win

NASCAR rising star Connor Zilisch’s victory celebration took a painful turn on Saturday after he suffered a broken collarbone in a post-race accident at Watkins Glen International in New York.
The 17-year-old racer had just clinched a big win in the Xfinity Series and was climbing onto the roof of his No. 88 Chevrolet to celebrate when his left foot appeared to get caught in the car’s window.
The snag caused him to lose balance and tumble hard to the ground, with the dramatic moment caught on video.
Paramedics rushed in to provide immediate medical attention before transporting Zilisch to a local hospital. NASCAR confirmed he was “awake and alert” upon leaving the track.
Later that day, Zilisch updated fans via X (formerly Twitter), confirming the broken collarbone but sharing relief that CT scans for his head were clear. “Thankful for all the medics for quick attention and grateful it wasn’t any worse,” he wrote.
The injury has sidelined Zilisch from competing in Sunday’s Cup Series race, cutting short what has been a stellar rookie season in which he leads the NASCAR Xfinity Series in both wins and points.
Fans and fellow racers have since flooded social media with messages wishing him a swift recovery.
