“Na everybody dey wise until dem jam am” – Lady shares her back-to-back pregnancy story after mocking others

A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after sharing her personal story of having children back-to-back and the surprising lessons she learned along the way.

The story was shared on the popular social media platform Facebook by Aanuoluwapo Ade-Alao.

Back-to-Back Births

The young lady admitted that she had always disliked the idea of women giving birth to children year after year, describing it as “illiterateish.”

She explained that even her aunty, who had four boys in five years, all singletons, was someone she looked at and thought it could never happen to her.

She said: “Shey family planning no dey again ni or shey raincoat don finish for Pharmacy? Even if na ora owo otori (nylon bag) the man no fit tie before doing the do? I would even add ‘is it by force to knack?’”

A Surprise Pregnancy

After her first child, she reportedly focused on her career, worked on her body, changed her wardrobe, and even picked up a form for a Master’s degree program.

She and her husband agreed to wait at least five years before having another child. However, months later, she discovered she was unexpectedly pregnant.

“Ladies and gentlemen, till today, I can’t explain how the second belle take enter my stomach. Maybe I was sleeping and mistakenly landed on my husband’s domudomu or maybe he fell and mistakenly slipped inside me, I don’t even know, but it was then that I fully understood the meaning of ‘fall pregnant.’ We did everything we should do yet Angel Gladsome found his way into my uterus.”

Navigating Stress and Judgment

She shared that she initially hid her pregnancy, and her husband reminded her they were legally married so she didn’t have to feel ashamed.

Lockdown began during her second trimester, and most family and friends learned she was pregnant through naming ceremony pictures she later uploaded.

“The first one year was a ‘Yakubu manage’ situation. E do me like say I go kpai but I no. Later, I kpai my daughter became very clingy and won’t let me bond with the new baby. The stress overchoke but we survive am and funnily, birthing at once and resting after is one of the best things I’ve ever done. Na now I dey enjoy am.”

Lesson Learned

Reflecting on her experience, she concluded that no one should judge women for their choices:

“Since then, I no dey put my mouth for wetin no concern me. If woman like make e back one year old pikin still carry 9 months old belle, I go just face front or waka fast fast like say I no dey see. Na everybody dey wise for situation wey dem never jam until dem find dem sef inside am.”
