“My son broke three TVs, I don’t advocate for beating children” – Bovi shares parenting advice
Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi has spoken against beating children as a form of discipline, urging parents to examine their emotions before punishing their kids.
In a video shared online, Bovi explained that his son had a habit of breaking things when angry, revealing that he broke at least three television sets while growing up.

The comedian noted that although he did not support beating children, he allowed his son to go through the phase while observing his behaviour and eventual remorse.
Bovi explained that his financial capacity also made it possible for him to replace the damaged televisions, adding that the approach could have been different if he could not afford new ones.
“I don’t advocate for beating children. You should let children be. My son dey break television for the fun of it. If he’s angry, he will throw stuff and break.
He got to the age where he got to, and I saw the remorse. At least he broke three TVs. Thank God for capacity. If I couldn’t afford another TV, then the approach would have been totally different.
That’s why I tell people, most times when we hit kids, check: are you really trying to correct them, or you’re frustrated?”
Bovi’s comments have generated discussion about parenting and the different approaches parents adopt when disciplining children.
His remarks highlight the importance of understanding a child’s behaviour and the emotions that may influence a parent’s response to misbehaviour.
