“My sister, family turned against me because I refused to care for the child I birthed” — Lady reveals
A lady has sparked widespread reactions on social media after alleging that her family turned against her because she refused to raise a child she said she carried as a surrogate for her elder sister.
In a viral video circulating online, the woman claimed she agreed to become a surrogate for her sister after months of emotional persuasion from her sister and other family members.
She said the arrangement was made on the understanding that she would only carry the pregnancy, while her sister would take full responsibility for the child after birth. The allegations have not been independently verified.
Woman says she never wanted children
Sharing her story, the woman claimed her sister struggled to conceive after getting married because of complications with her uterus.
According to her, her sister and brother-in-law approached her with a request to carry their first child through surrogacy because they wanted a close family member to help instead of a stranger.
She said she immediately rejected the proposal because she had never desired to have children.
“I don’t want to do this because I don’t see myself as someone that wants to have children. Long story short, I don’t want to have children. I want to marry. I might marry, but I’m not intrigued by the idea of getting pregnant and birthing kids because I don’t have the strength to look after children.”
The woman explained that she considers raising children physically and emotionally demanding.
“For me, it’s just a strenuous thing. It’s a whole lot of work and I don’t see myself doing it.”
Family allegedly persuaded her to change her mind
Despite her refusal, the woman claimed her sister continued pleading with her and appealed to her emotions.
According to her, her sister repeatedly told her she would be helping the entire family and preventing public embarrassment if she agreed to become a surrogate.
“She reminded me that if I’m doing it, I’m doing it for the entire family. She said I should not make her enemy shame.”
She further alleged that her sister involved their mother and other relatives, who all begged her to reconsider until she finally agreed.
The woman said she accepted only after laying down clear conditions.
“I told her that if I birth this child for you, you’re going to take 100% responsibility of it. I don’t want anything that has to do with kids.”
She also claimed she informed her sister that she would be responsible for helping her recover from any physical changes caused by the pregnancy.
“I also told her that after the whole procedure, anything that happens to my body, you’re going to fix it. Maybe I’ll go under liposuction or see a beautician to fix my body.”
According to her, her sister accepted every condition before the medical procedure began.
She said the insemination was successful and everything went according to plan.
“To the glory of God, they did the insemination and everything. It didn’t fail and everything went fine as planned.”
Sister later conceives naturally
The woman said everything remained normal for several years after the child was born.
However, she claimed the situation changed when the child turned three years old.
According to her, her sister unexpectedly became pregnant naturally despite previously being told by doctors that conceiving would be impossible.
She said her sister successfully carried the pregnancy to full term and welcomed another baby, leaving the family overjoyed.
“A miracle happened. She got pregnant and carried her own baby to full term and everybody was happy.”
‘She asked me to come and carry my child’
The woman alleged that shortly after giving birth to her own child, her sister contacted her with a request she never expected.
“She wanted me to come and carry my child.”
According to the woman, her sister argued that there was no reason for the child born through surrogacy to continue living with her now that she had given birth herself.
“She doesn’t see any reason why the child should be living with her now since she has birthed her own child.”
The woman said she was stunned by the request and immediately reminded her sister of their original agreement.
“I don’t think I have the strength to look after toddlers. I don’t think I have the strength to look after babies. That is why I told you from day one that I don’t want to do this.”
She accused her sister of emotionally manipulating her into accepting the surrogacy arrangement.
“Somehow you convinced me, manipulated me emotionally, got my mother involved, got everybody involved and I agreed to doing this thing. Why are you changing your mouth now?”
‘The child is still your child’
The woman maintained that she never agreed to become the child’s parent.
“Besides, the child is still your child. The only difference is the child shares both of our DNAs. I was just the carrier.”
She alleged that her sister responded by saying she only sought surrogacy because she was desperate to become a mother.
“She said she only did that thing because she was desperate to have kids. Now that God has given her her own child, she wants me to come and take full responsibility for the child.”
The woman said she could not understand her sister’s reasoning and refused the request.
Family sides with sister
According to the woman, the disagreement has now become a major family issue because many of her relatives are supporting her sister.
“My entire family has decided to become a thorn in my flesh because I said I am not going to look after the child I birthed for her.”
She claimed her relatives argued that since her sister now has her own biological child, she should accept responsibility for the child born through surrogacy.
“They say there’s no difference now and since she’s already married and has her own child, now that God has answered her prayer, it’s me that God used to open way for her.”
However, she insisted that raising children has never been something she wanted.
“I don’t have the patience. The way they cry, the way they throw tantrums, the way they do unnecessary things irritates me.”
The woman said she believes her family has ignored the agreement she made before accepting the surrogacy.
“The good thing that I did for her is now turning back to bite me in the face.”
Woman seeks advice
The woman said she enjoys her current lifestyle and does not want to become responsible for raising a child.
“I like my single life. I like the fact that I don’t have kids. I like the fact that I’m free. I like the fact that I can go anywhere that I like. I don’t want to be tied down.”
She said she made her position clear from the beginning and questioned why her sister had changed her mind.
“That is what I made her understand from the beginning and she consented. So why is she changing her mouth now?”
Although frustrated, the woman said she still loves her family and does not want the dispute to permanently damage their relationship.
“I don’t want to curse my family members. I don’t want to see them as inconsiderate because I love my family, but at the same time they are not understanding me.”
She concluded by appealing to viewers for advice.
“Please, how can I deal with this whole thing because I’m tired already.”
