“My mum stopped…” – Lady shares heartbreaking story of why she thought her father didn’t love her
A woman has opened up about a deeply emotional part of her childhood, revealing how growing up without her father shaped her relationships and self-worth.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she explained that her parents separated when she was young, and she had to move between both homes weekly until one day, her father stopped showing up.
In her words, she said:
“One week, my dad never showed up to come pick me up. I sat by the door literally waiting and waiting. He never showed up. The following week, I did the same thing. I did this for months.”
According to her, for years, she believed her father had abandoned her, which left her feeling rejected and affected how she saw love and relationships.
However, she recently discovered the truth as an adult — that her father never left, but was cut off by her mother, who feared losing her.
“I didn’t find out until recently that my father did not abandon me. My mother cut him off because she was afraid he was going to take me from her. I literally grew up thinking my father didn’t love me,” she added.
She added that the experience affected her choices in relationships and still haunts her, especially now that her father is no longer alive, leaving her with unanswered questions and emotional scars.
Her story has since resonated with many social media users, sparking conversations about the lasting impact of childhood experiences in bitter co-parenting situations.
