A Nigerian lady has shared an emotional account of the formal end of her marriage, nearly two years after she left the union.
In a video posted on TikTok, the woman, identified as @miss.ijay, explained that the marriage was officially dissolved following the return of her bride price to her former husband’s family, a traditional act that signifies the complete termination of a marital bond.
She shared the story alongside a throwback video recorded on the same day the bride price was returned, describing it as the moment the marriage fully came to an end, seven years after it was first initiated.
According to her, the process initially proceeded calmly but became emotional when the reality of the separation dawned on her former husband.
She revealed that he reportedly broke down in tears during the proceedings as the significance of the bride price return became clear.
Despite the emotional scene, the woman stated that her decision to leave the marriage had already been made long before that day.
