Muslim lady breaks down in tears as she shares emotional reason for removing niqab after 13 years

A Nigerian Muslim lady has stirred emotional reactions online after revealing that she decided to stop wearing the niqab (veil) she had used for 13 years.
In an emotional post shared on TikTok, she explained that the decision came after years of self-reflection, personal growth, prayers, fear, and inner struggles.
According to her, removing the niqab was not something she decided overnight, but a deeply personal journey that took time and courage.
“For 13 years, this niqab was a part of my story. Now, I’m entering a chapter where I want my outside to reflect the woman I’m becoming inside.
“This decision did not happen overnight. It came with tears, fear, prayers, confusion, growth, and deep self-reflection,” she said.
She explained that she spent years trying to live according to people’s expectations and now wants to understand herself without pressure or shame.
The lady also made it clear that her decision was not about disrespecting religion, but about allowing herself to evolve and embrace her personal journey.
“I spent years being who everyone expected me to be. Now I want to discover who I truly am without fear, shame, or pressure. This journey is not about disrespecting my religion, but it’s about giving myself permission to evolve.
“Not everyone will understand my journey, and that’s okay. What matters is that I finally understand myself more than I used to, and I’m proud of that growth,” she added.
Her story has sparked conversations online about identity, religion, self-discovery, and the freedom to make personal life choices.
Many reactions have followed her decision. One user wrote, “This must have taken a lot of courage. Growth comes in different ways.” Another added, “People should stop judging others.”
