For the overwhelming majority of the January window, Mudryk seemed destined to join Arsenal for a fee of around £80million but the Gunners pursuit of the 22-year-old was hijacked by their London rivals.

Chelsea pipped the Gunners to the signing and in turn, forced Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to resort to his plan B signing in former Brighton star Leandro Trossard for a drastically cheaper price of £27m.

Mudryk was brought in during the match against Liverpool and he impressed in the 35 minutes he played in the match which ended 0-0.

During the match, Chelsea fans sang a chant that goes this way: “He flew in from Ukraine, on Boehly’s private plane, Mudryk said to me: ‘Have Arsenal won the Champions League?’. So I told him no, you know the place to go, then he said to me, I want to lift number three.”

Mudryk who seems to be happy with the chant, re-shared a fan page video of supporters singing it on his Instagram story.
