Mongezi Thomas Stuurman (22 September 1995 – 9 August 2021), also known as Mpura, was a South African rapper, fashion designer, and record producer best known for his Zulu-language hit song “Umsebenzi Wethu”. He was also renowned for his most popular song, “Impilo Yase Sandton”.

Mpura was born and brought up in Chiawelo Extension 3, Soweto, Gauteng. He attended Highlands North Boys High School.
Career
Before becoming famous in the music world, he worked in fashion and launched Mpura Designs, a unisex street style brand. In 2018, he made his South African Fashion Week debut, presenting his Autumn/Winter 2019 collection.
On December 11, 2020, he and Busta 929 released the track Umsebenzi Wethu, which featured Lady Du, Reece Madlisa, Mr. JazziQ, and Zuma. The song achieved number one on the local iTunes charts and was certified platinum.
