Mourinho eyes Rashford reunion at Fenerbahçe as United outcast awaits offers

Jose Mourinho is reportedly preparing a surprise move to reunite with Marcus Rashford at Fenerbahçe, as the Turkish giants consider a €47m (£40m) transfer for the out-of-favour Manchester United forward.

Rashford, 27, is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and has been training separately from the first team at Carrington.

Despite strong personal interest in a move to Barcelona, sources suggest the Catalan club have yet to make a formal approach, despite missing out on priority target Nico Williams.

Bayern Munich and Juventus have also shown tentative interest, but no deal has materialized.

Now, Mourinho, who coached Rashford during his tenure at United between 2016 and 2018, is open to rekindling that relationship in Istanbul.

Turkish media indicate Fenerbahçe are willing to meet United’s asking price. However, convincing Rashford to make the move to the Süper Lig could prove more difficult than securing the funds.

United, meanwhile, remain active in the transfer market. After sealing the £62.5m signing of Wolves attacker Matheus Cunha, they’ve also tabled two unsuccessful bids for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and are eyeing a third.
