Morocco become first African nation to qualify for 2026 World Cup

Morocco have sealed their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after thrashing Niger 5-0 in their latest qualifier on Friday night.
The result secured qualification with two matches to spare, as the Atlas Lions extended their flawless run to six wins from six in Group E.
Morocco, who made history by reaching the semi-finals at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, become the first African nation to confirm their spot at the expanded tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Led by stars such as Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi and Leicester City midfielder Bilal El Khannouss, the North Africans are now shifting their focus to the Africa Cup of Nations, with two remaining qualifiers against Zambia and Congo now of little consequence.
