Morocco arrests suspect over illegal AFCON 2025 ticket sales

Moroccan security agencies have arrested a 37-year-old man in Agadir over the unauthorised sale of tickets for the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The suspect was picked up on Friday after investigators traced online advertisements offering AFCON match tickets outside official sales channels, prompting a targeted digital investigation by security services.
Digital trail leads to arrest
Authorities tracked the suspect through social media activity and apprehended him near a shopping centre in Agadir, one of the tournament’s host cities.
A search conducted at the scene reportedly led to the recovery of multiple match tickets and cash believed to be proceeds from illegal sales.

Judicial investigation underway
Security sources confirmed that the suspect has been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor.
Investigators are working to establish the full scope of the operation and determine whether other individuals were involved.

Agadir has been a central venue at AFCON 2025, hosting several group-stage fixtures, including the match between Egypt and South Africa.
