“Monkey chase speeds up labour” — Woman recounts dramatic hospital delivery

A woman has shared a dramatic and humorous account of how her sister gave birth moments after being chased by a monkey at a private hospital.

The incident, which reportedly occurred recently, has gone viral on social media, drawing laughter and disbelief from many Nigerians.

The woman narrated how her sister, already expecting her second child, had confidently handled early labour signs at home before heading to the hospital.

According to her, the expectant mother carried on with chores, dressed up, and arrived calmly, only for events to take an unexpected turn.

Calm before the chaos

“On that day, she said she already knew her baby was coming, but as a second-time mum, she felt like a professional. She was doing house chores, cleaning, cooking, and even did her makeup before leaving for the hospital like someone going for a wedding,” she said.

Upon arrival, the doctors reportedly doubted her readiness due to her composed appearance and instructed nurses to take her for light exercise around the premises.

Unexpected chase triggers delivery

“While walking, she saw a monkey in the next compound, and immediately it started running towards her. My sister ran for her life, and by the time she got to the hospital door, she felt the baby’s head already coming out,” she added.

The woman noted that both mother and child were quickly assisted into the labour room safely.
