Moment Nigerian man escapes from police after his arrest in India

A 44-year-old Nigerian man, identified as Julius Anthony Onyekachukwu, was spotted escaping from Indian police officers during a drug raid in the Sector 24 area of Ulwe, Navi Mumbai.

The incident unfolded on Friday, October 6, 2023, as part of a major crackdown on drug-related activities in the region.

Navi Mumbai police had orchestrated the raid, resulting in the arrest of Mr. Onyekachukwu, who was allegedly involved in the drug trade.

During the operation, law enforcement authorities seized a significant quantity of drugs valued at ₹84.8 lakh.

Additionally, they confiscated mobile phones, digital weighing tools, and other materials believed to be intended for the distribution of contraband substances.

A video of the incident, which has since gone viral on social media platforms, captured the dramatic moment when the accused Nigerian man attempted to evade capture.

As he was being escorted towards a police van by an officer, Onyekachukwu seized a fleeting opportunity to escape, successfully breaking free from the officer’s grip.

He swiftly took off running, prompting a hot pursuit by the police.

In the ensuing chaos, one of the pursuing officers stumbled and fell to the ground, while the others scattered in various directions in an effort to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

As of the time of writing this report, there have been no official reports confirming whether the police were able to successfully recapture the Nigerian man.
