MLS: Messi inspires four-goal Inter Miami fightback vs Orlando City

Inter Miami overturned a two-goal deficit to defeat Orlando City 4-2, delivering a second-half response that proved both their vulnerabilities and attacking quality.

The defending MLS Cup champions were disjointed before the break, trailing 2-0 and struggling to contain Orlando’s forward play.

After halftime, however, the contest shifted decisively, led by Lionel Messi and Telasco Segovia.

Second-half surge

Messi began the comeback, finding space outside the box and finishing from distance to reduce the deficit.

Segovia provided the assist and remained central to Miami’s attacking resurgence, helping draw the visitors level at 2-2.

With five minutes remaining, Segovia scored the go-ahead goal in the 85th minute, completing the turnaround.

Moments later, Orlando midfielder Colin Guske was sent off, leaving the hosts with 10 men. Messi capitalised on the ensuing free-kick, striking decisively to secure the result.

Within a brief spell, Miami shifted from reactive to dominant, overwhelming an Orlando side that had controlled much of the first half.

Defensive questions remain

Despite the comeback, concerns persist at the back. Miami conceded twice in the opening period, highlighting ongoing structural issues.

Goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair endured another inconsistent outing, while offseason signing German Berterame continues to adjust in attack.

For all their imperfections, Miami’s capacity for rapid momentum swings remains decisive.

The performance was uneven, but the second-half demonstrated why they remain one of MLS’s most dangerous sides when their attack clicks.
