Messi congratulates Dembele on historic Ballon d’Or title

Lionel Messi has congratulated Ousmane Dembele after the French forward was crowned the 2025 Ballon d’Or winner ahead of Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal.
Messi, eight-time winner of the same award now with Inter Miami, described himself as “very happy” for his former Barcelona teammate, hailing the 28-year-old’s achievement as well deserved.

Dembele crowned in Paris
Dembele was officially announced as the Ballon d’Or winner during Monday’s ceremony at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
He topped the rankings ahead of 18-year-old Yamal, who finished second, and Portugal midfielder Vitinha, who placed third.
A dream fulfilled
After his triumph, Dembele expressed his joy on Instagram, writing: “Lots of joy, pride and emotion. A dream come true. Thank you to all those who have always supported me throughout this journey. #ballondor.”
