Marseille in advanced talks to reunite with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Olympique de Marseille are closing in on re-signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with negotiations at an advanced stage, according to RMC Sport.

The Ligue 1 side are keen to bring the veteran striker back to the Vélodrome following his successful stint at the club two seasons ago.

Aubameyang, 36, is currently working to terminate his contract with Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah, where he scored 21 goals in 36 appearances.

Despite his effectiveness in front of goal, the Gabonese international is reportedly eager for a return to European football, prompting Marseille to move swiftly.

The forward previously spent a prolific season with OM, notching 30 goals and 11 assists in 51 appearances before departing for Saudi Arabia.

Marseille, who have since undergone a managerial overhaul with Roberto De Zerbi now at the helm, view Aubameyang as a valuable addition to bolster their attacking depth ahead of a return to UEFA Champions League football.

The proposed deal would see Aubameyang return on a two-year contract, with discussions ongoing over the financial terms.

If finalised, he is expected to play a rotational role behind Amine Gouiri in De Zerbi’s system.

Marseille are aiming to finalise the agreement quickly to integrate the striker ahead of pre-season.
