“Marriage would be a trap for any man that marries me” — Lady explains why she stays single

A woman has stirred intense debate on social media after openly stating that she avoids relationships and marriage because of unresolved anger she believes could lead her to hurt a partner.
The woman, whose remarks were shared in a viral post, said she deliberately chooses to remain single to prevent inflicting emotional and physical harm on any man she becomes involved with.
Her comments, made during a personal rant, quickly drew reactions from users who described the statement as troubling, honest, and reflective of deeper emotional issues.
“Any man I date has entered a trap”
“I feel like the only reason I will want to get married is to have someone I am going to be hurting anytime I cheat and somebody I can beat up any time I’m angry. I just enjoy beating up men. So the reason I’m staying single is because the minute I enter a relationship, I’m going to pour out all my anger on that person. Any man that enters my life has already entered a trap,” she added.
Mixed reactions trail viral confession
The woman also referenced pressure from family members, particularly her mother, who she said constantly prays for her to get married, despite her personal convictions.
“So all these ones that my mummy is praying for husband for me, hmm,” she said.
The development comes amid rising conversations around toxic relationships, anger management and domestic violence awareness in Nigeria.
In November 2024, advocacy groups renewed calls for mental health support after several viral confessions involving violent thoughts within relationships surfaced online.
